About Author Interviews
Conversations with writers, artists, and thinkers about craft, creativity, and the stories that connect us.
1455’s Founding Director Sean Murphy has been in dialogue with writers and artists since grad school (or even earlier if you count the one-way conversations from his high school journals). During his years as a technology analyst, he curated a series on “Tech & Entertainment,” and interviewed many writers, musicians, and creatives via his platform as a critic and via his blog, Murphy’s Law. When he founded 1455, one of the first priorities was providing a forum to showcase artists from around the world, giving a spotlight to their work, which includes discussions of craft and influences—no holds barred in these frank and far-ranging discussions. Always a fan of in-person events, myriad conversations occurred during the 1455 Author Series and the annual StoryFest, but during Covid, it became important to keep talking even when the opportunities for live connections became limited. As such, the series went virtual, which facilitated a global network of storytellers. In addition to the then-monthly Author Series, we introduced the 14:55 Interview, a forum for intimate conversation, Q&A style. Sean continues to speak to inspiring creatives via his podcast Some Things Considered, and the 1455 Author Series evolves—the only goal being an open and inclusive opportunity for artists to connect with audiences. Always free, always available, we encourage you to enjoy (and, if possible, support by spreading the word or making a contribution) this remarkable content we’ve been providing since 2018.
